A Case Study of Severe Storm Weather Process in Bengbu city

Zhang Xiaohong Chai Huaquan Huang Chunsheng Cheng Xingwu (1)

Abstract: Comprehensive analyses and researches on synoptic situation, satellite images, radar echo and disasters were carried out for a disastrous meso-scale strong thunderstorm in Bengbu of Anhui Province on May 27,2002. Results show that the interaction of multi-scale synoptic systems results in the small-scale thunderstorm cell transforming into meso-scale convective systems, which leads to this strong rainstorm. Cold advection at upper lever overlapping warm advection at low lever and the temperature and moisture increasing at low lever offered ample energy. The strong concentrated and upward vertical movement overlapping the convective movement region is the dynamic mechanism which stimulated the strong convective storm. Key Words£ºsevere rainstorm synoptic situation radar echo
