Abstract: This research tries to use satellite remote sensing data to estimate land surface energy fluxes over Monsoon Asia and analyze the spatial and temporal characteristics of energy balance in this region. The NOAA/AVHRR 8km data was employed to extract some important physical and biophysical parameters of the land surface, such as, albedo, surface temperature, surface roughness, LAI, and so on. And then, the surface energy balance components such as net radiation, ground heat flux, latent and sensible heat fluxes, will be calculated through a model by combining with some ground meteorological data. The ground observation data from GAME stations will be used to validate and assess the accuracy of the remote estimates. At last, the temporal and spatial variations of the energy balance in Asia will be evaluated and discussed.
