Announcement of Workshop on Meso-scale Systems
in Meiyu /Baiu Front and Hydrological Cycle
Xi An, China
3-8 November, 1999
Under the support of China National Natural Scientific Foundation
and the Ministry of Education of Japan, the scientists of both
countries carried out the joint meteorology-hydrological field
observation in regions of China in the summer of 1998, 1999 matching
with the GAME concerned projects. The observations were very
successful and then have obtained valuable research results. A lot of
the scientists of HUBEX and GAME reported the main research results in
the Third International Scientific Conference on the Global Energy and
Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) which was held in Beijing in the
mid-June this year.
In order to further summarize and exchange the research results of
HUBEX, the China-Japan scientific committee has decided to hold a
workshop on meso-scale systems in Meiyu/Baiu front and hydrological
cycle in Xi An of China on 3-8November, 1999. The China-Japan
scientists of other experiments of GAME are also welcomed to
participate. One of important topics of this meeting is to study the
surface-air flux observation and intercomparison, so the concerned
experts of other meteorological experiment will be invited.

* Report of field observation (1998,1999) and four-dimensional
data assimilation
* Energy and water cycle in Meiyu /Baiu Front
* Meso-scale cloud system
* Intercomparison of boundary layer flux, radiation and energy budget
* Remote sensing in the study of energy and water cycle
* Hydrological model and its coupling with meteorological model
