陸域観測技術衛星(ALOS)研究公募のお知らせ

【背景】
現在、宇宙開発事業団では、陸域観測技術を更に高度化し、地図作成、地域観
測、災害状況把握、資源探査等への貢献を目指す陸域観測技術衛星
ALOS(Advanced Land Observing Satellite)の開発を進めております。ALOSは、
標高や土地被覆情報を抽出するPRISM及びAVNIR-2、並びに昼夜、天候を問わず観
測が可能なPALSARの3つの地球観測センサを搭載し、高分解能観測に威力を発揮
することが期待されています。地球観測データ解析研究センタ−では、2002年の
打上げに先立ち、衛星データを利用した研究公募を実施することになりました。
【内容】
ALOSデータの利用を希望する国内・海外の教育機関、研究機関及び民間企業等
の研究者を対象に、（1）校正検証、（2）利用化研究、（3）科学研究、の3つの
項目について研究提案を募集します。研究提案書の提出要領等の詳細情報は、下

*** Information of ALOS Research Announcement ***
<BACKGROUND>
Now National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) is developing
the Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) which is planed to launch
in the summer of 2002. The main missions are cartography, regional
observation, disaster monitoring, and resource surveying. The ALOS has
three remote sensing instruments: the Panchromatic Remote sensing
Instrument for Stereo Mapping (PRISM) for digital elevation mapping, the
Advanced Visible and Near Infrared Radiometer type 2 (AVNIR-2) for
precise land coverage observation, and the Phased Array type L-band
Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR) for day-and-night and all weather land
observation. The ALOS sensors are expected to contribute to the high
resolution land observation. In advance of the launch, we inform you the
ALOS Research Announcement.
<CONTENTS>
We welcome all researchers from educational institutions, research
institutes, private enterprises, government institutions, and any other
organizations, domestic or foreign, to submit research proposals for
non-profit and peaceful purpose. Research themes consist of three
categories, which are (1) Calibration and validation of the ALOS data
products and each sensor (2) Utilization research (3) Scientific
research. We have announced the official documents (application
procedures) for submission of proposals on the ALOS homepage now.
