climate. This session will focus on the hydrological features in Monsoon =
Asia. Papers are invited on relevant topics, including flux net in =
different biomes, surface and subsurface water flux in Monsoon Asia, =

=81@In and around the Pacific Ocean, there are numerous volcanoes and =
groundwater in volcanic area is now in great demand for agricultural, =
industrial, and domestic use. Although groundwater is clearly one of the =
most important characteristic of these volcanoes, the groundwater =
hydrology=3D
of volcanoes is perhaps the least well understood component. This =
session will include results of hydrological studies concerning recharge =
areas and processes, flow paths, and residence times for groundwater in =
volcanoes of the Pacific region.

=81@Groundwater can have dramatic implications for geotechnical =
engineering problems. A broad spectrum of presentations is solicited, =
including hydrogeological studies aimed at understanding slope failure =
mechanisms, groundwater studies for controlling ground settlement caused =
by dewatering, groundwater investigation for deep tunnels and =
excavation, and numerical modelling of groundwater flow for geotechnical =
purposes.

migration as well as by long-term climate changes. This session will =
focus on the subsurface temperature in environmental, groundwater and =
submarine hydrology. Papers are invited on all relevant topics, =
including the effects of climate change, groundwater flow and heat and =
fluid flow in geothermal areas and in submarine geophysics.
