	The Group will discuss the issues related to further development of GCSS including the Study's main goals and methods. Items which impact this strategy discussion include: 
(i)further developments related to the findings and recommendations for the next phase of GEWEX as discussed at the GEWEX Strategy Meeting (8-9 August 2000), specifically, including possible impacts on relevant GCSS research foci/plans, if any; and 
(ii)the recent joint GEWEX Modelling and Prediction Panel (GMPP) and Working Group on Numerical Experimentation (WGNE) meeting (23-27 October 2000, Melbourne, Australia), including plans for joint GMPP/GCSS-WGNE projects.
