Announcement of the Third GAME-HUBEX International Scientific Conference
on Meso-scale System and its Water Cycle in Meiyu/Baiu Front
(Revised First Circular)
(7-11 December 2001, Yunnan, China)
Because the original conference date is clashed with some experts'
other important activities, the GAME/HUBEX Project Scientific
Committee made a new decision on the date. The Third GAME-HUBEX
international Scientific Conference on Meso-scale System and its Water
Cycle in Meiyu/Baiu Front will be held in Kunming City of Yunnan
Province China on 7-11 December, 2001.
1. Topic of the Conference
1) Multi-scale Structure and Dynamics of Meiyu/Baiu Front;
2) Regional Scale Energy and Water Cycle;
3) Structure and Dynamics of Meso-Scale Convective System, and its
Simulation as well as Prediction;
4) Surface Flux and Land-Surface Process;
5) Water Budget and Development of Hydrological Model;
6) Improvement of the Climate Model and its Coupled Study with
Hydrological Model.
2. Discussion of the Key Problems
1) Moisture Source , Moisture Sink in Meiyu/Baiu Front and Its
Cycling Process;
2) Land-Surface Process of Meiyu/Baiu Front;
3) Influence of Meiyu/Baiu Front in China on the Climate of Japan and Korea;
4) Physical Reason of Maintenance of Meso-Scale Convective System in
Meiyu/Baiu Front;
5) Physical Picture of Energy and Water Cycle and its Annual Variation
in the Huaihe River Basin.
3. Agenda of Conference (Prelinmary)

4. Call for Papers
1) The abstract must be submitted on A4 Size paper, no more than 2
pages, including diagrams;
2) The paper title, author(s), complete name(s), their affiliation(s),
full mailing address(es),Tel, Fax, and E-mail must be included;
3) The abstract must be sent by hardcopy or via E-mail.
5. Important events
1) Prior to September 10 Sending Provisional registration form to HUBEX
Office in China
2) September 25 Sending the Second Circular with the information
of the exact Conference location, accommodation, visiting and the
format of paper
3) Prior to October 25 Submitting the abstract of paper
4) Prior to the middle of October Sending the third Circular with the
information of the exact agenda of the conference , visiting
registration and so on
6. Publication
After the Conference, a Scientific Collection will be published by
China Meteorological Press. Please be sure to submit the full text and
its floppy disk in English to HUBEX Project Office (exact information
will be given in the Third Circular). To Chinese scientists, the
extended abstracts in Chinese are also needed.
