Second Announcement
===============================================
The 2nd International Workshop on Advanced Flux Network and
Flux Evaluation
(Kickoff of KoFlux in AsiaFlux)

9-11 January 2002, Jeju island, Korea
===============================================

< GENERAL INFORMATION >

The Second International Workshop on AsiaFlux associated with KoFlux (KoreaFlux) project is jointly organized by Yonsei
University and AsiaFlux committee. It will be held on January 9-11, 2002 at Seogwipo KAL Hotel,Jeju, Korea.
The Workshop provides an excellent opportunity to exchange the advanced ideas and experiences on AsiaFux (under FLUXNET
program), to improve our understanding on carbon cycle in terrestirial ecosystems, and to discuss and review application
studies of comprehensive experimental data.

< TOPICS >

The goal of AsiaFlux is to improve our understanding on magnitude, location, temporal behavior and causes of the carbon
source/sink strength of terrestrial ecosystems, thereby improving predictability/adaptability to the current global changes &
negotiation capacity of the Asian Community in the context of the Kyoto protocol.
Following this goal more specifically the workshop focuses on:

    1. Establishing infrastructure for guiding, collecting, synthesizing, and disseminating long-term measurements of C, N, S,
water & energy exchange in key ecosystems in Asia;

    2. Collecting critical new information to help define the current global CO2, water & trace gas budgets and enable
improved future predictions; and

    3. Enhancing our understanding of C, N, S, water & energy fluxes, net ecosystem production, carbon sequestration and water
rewource management/application in the key terrestrial ecosystems in Asia.
