An overview of the GAME radiation activities-2000

Prof. Teruyuki Nakajima (1)

This paper will overview the GAME radiation activities in 2000. The radiation activities have made efforts for understanding the radiation budgetin the GAME area with ground|based radiation measurementsCsatellite remote sensingCand climate modeling. Data from GAME high precision radiation sites atSri|SamrongCThailand and Hefei. China are used to estimate the surface radiation budget at these sitesDThe surface radiation budget is also estimated from GMS satellite data. So far we have some disagreement between surface|measured and satellite-retrieved values of the surface radiation budget. Detailed analysis will be done to overcome this problem. Direct and indirect climate effects of aerosol particles will be discussed with satellite and model results of surface radiation and aerosol radiative properties.
